3) DADGAD Guitar Trick to Start Playing Fast

img-1

In this lesson, I show you how to use a fun octave trick on the guitar.

First we tune to DADGAD, and if you haven’t done that yet Fender has a nice online tuner on their website that  allows you can select DADGAD tuning from the dropdown menu, here’s the link – https://www.fender.com/online-guitar-tuner/acoustic-guitar-tuning

Once tuned down we run through the scale of D Major on all three of the D strings in DADGAD to get our fingers used to the positions.

Then I introduce the low movable octave shape, then the high movable octave shape before combining then with some rhythm.

It’s a fun trick that I find really helps to get to grips with the DADGAD fretboard fast.

Let me know how you get on with it, and if you have any questions just leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you.

  1. I am working with a guitar teacher about once a week. He is familiar with trad Irish rhythm guitar playing so I can’t wait to try this out with him on my Epiphone!
