This notice explains how Aodán Coyne, trading as Irish Guitar Academy (“IGA”, “we”, “us”), collects and uses personal data through aodancoyne.com, irishguitaracademy.com, our IGA offer and checkout pages, email signup forms, courses and customer support.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Aodán Coyne, trading as Irish Guitar Academy, Unit #44 G5, 3015 Lake Drive, Citywest, Dublin D24 DKP4, Ireland. Privacy enquiries and rights requests can be sent to aodan@aodancoyne.com.

What we collect

  • Signup and contact information: your email address, and your name or message when you choose to provide them.
  • Course and purchase information: products purchased, amount, currency, payment and refund status, account and fulfilment details, and billing information needed to complete the transaction. Full payment-card details are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout and are not stored on this website.
  • Website and device information: IP address, browser and device information, pages and events, cookie choices, and security logs.
  • Attribution information: limited campaign parameters such as source, medium and campaign, plus the signup form or page used. This is collected only where the required cookie consent has been given.
  • Comments and communications: information you submit in comments, emails, support requests or other direct communications.

Why we use it and our legal bases

  • To deliver a requested cheat sheet, lesson or reply, and to take steps you request before a purchase: performance of a contract or steps before entering one.
  • To provide paid products, accounts, support, refunds and fulfilment: performance of a contract.
  • To send marketing email: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in an email.
  • To use optional analytics, attribution and marketing cookies: your consent. Use the Cookie settings control on the site to change your choice.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, troubleshoot faults and understand aggregate business performance without unnecessary customer data: our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, balanced against your rights.
  • To keep tax, accounting and transaction records: compliance with legal obligations.

We do not use your personal data for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Who receives data

We use service providers only as needed to run IGA. These include WordPress and our hosting providers, AWeber for signup forms and email, SamCart and the payment providers shown at checkout for orders and payments, Google Analytics where optional analytics consent is granted, and security, support and embedded-media providers. They process data under their own terms and applicable data-protection obligations. We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some providers process data in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where GDPR transfer rules apply, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, as provided by the relevant service provider.

How long we keep data

  • Email subscriber information is kept while you remain subscribed. After unsubscribe, a minimal suppression record may be retained so we can honour your choice.
  • Order, refund, tax and accounting records are kept for the period required by applicable law.
  • Support messages, comments and security logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, dispute handling and site protection.
  • Analytics and cookie retention periods are described in our Cookie Policy and relevant provider settings.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal data, and you may object to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. You can change cookie choices using the site’s Cookie settings control.
